Geeks Ruled–
In 2012, it doesn’t take a lot of dough to get you noticed. In a time when first car is no longer synonymous with 3-series, there were some real beaters that looked super cool and may have even gotten some action:
And there were American cars that made us stop, gasp and say “what is that?” and not in a throw-up-in-your-mouth kinda way but in a Ryan-Gosling-can-change-my-oil-anytime kinda way:
We also saw the return of Big Pimpin’–tufted seats, cigarette lighters, one hand on the wheel and an arm rest that’s made for lovin’..bom-chicka-wah-wah:
We also saw a new generation embrace the 80s. This enabled a whole group of people to dust off their 944s, Depeche Mode lps and John Hughes movies and all of sudden feel cool:
However, to a lot of us, it just made us feel old..er. Like seeing historic plates on my first car (no joke).
But the most exciting automotive trend of 2012 was the fact that I no longer have to sell plasma to fill up my SUV:
Tomorrow, I’ll give you The Worst of 2012 when I’m good and hung over.
See ya next year.
