2025 Women’s World Car Awards & Why You Should Care

Women's World Car of The Year

This year, I joined the Women’s World Car of the Year Awards jury. When I announced my appointment, one of my readers contacted me to ask, “What? What are the Women’s World Car of the Year Awards? How are they different?” It’s a great question, so here I am to answer it and to announce this year’s category winners!

What Is The WWCOTY? And Why?

Founded in 2009 by New Zealand automotive journalist, Sandy Myhre, the Women’s World Car of the Year is represented in 55 countries. There are 81 female automotive journalists (including yours truly).

The goal of the organization is stated as follows, “Beyond choosing the best cars of the year, our goal is also to give visibility to women in the automotive world and to contribute to making women’s voices heard on all continents because mobility for a woman means access to many personal and professional possibilities.”

As someone who never thought her voice would heard and is passionate about creating more access to mobility for all, I’m thrilled to be a part of WWCOTY. So let’s get to it!

Here Are The 2025 Women’s World Car of the Year Category Winners:

Women's World Car of The Year
Urban Model: Mini Countryman

The Mini is just so easy to love.

Women's World Car of The Year
Performance and Luxury: Porsche Panamera

I’ve logged a significant number of hours in this vehicle, including some off road adventures. It’s quite a car!

Women's World Car of The Year
Compact SUV KIA EV3

This vehicle is expected to be for sale in the US by mid 2026, but if it’s anything close to the EV6, it’ll be a doozy!

WWCOTY
Large SUV Hyundai Santa Fe

Can we just talk about the styling here? This is not your mother’s Hyundai! Well done and so deserved.

WWCOTY
Large Car: Audi A6 etron

The entire etron lineup is nothing less than delicious. I haven’t driven this one, but will! Check out my Audi vs Tesla video here.

4×4 and Pick Up: Toyota Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser is back and better than ever! This is a great win.

Best Tech Award: BYD

I know, America. We don’t have BYD–that’s because it’s a Chinese company. But the rest of the world is smitten!

Women's World Car of The Year
Sandy Myhre Award: Volvo

This is the award I’m terribly excited about. As someone who has worked closely with Volvo (and their vehicles), I can tell you that they put their money where their mouth is when it comes to female drivers, passengers, and employees. They were the first car company to use crash test dummies modeled after women, that pretty much says it all. Bravo!

Who will win the overall award? Stay tuned. I’ll update you guys as soon as I know!
